The Basics

How Halotherapy Works

Active dry salt therapy, commonly known as halotherapy, uses a halogenerator to create and disperse microscopic particles of pure, dry sodium chloride (salt) into the air of an enclosed space.

Active halotherapy requires a halogenerator to create and disperse a controlled dry salt aerosol into the air, where it can be naturally inhaled during a session. Decorative salt walls and salt lamps may enhance the space, but they do not produce this aerosol. Without a halogenerator, it is not active halotherapy.

The Properties of Dry Salt

Dry sodium chloride has several physical and chemical properties that have made it the subject of respiratory and wellness research.

Hygroscopic Properties

Attracts and absorbs moisture.

Dry salt is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts and absorbs moisture from its surrounding environment. This characteristic is one of the properties researchers have examined when studying dry salt aerosol and the respiratory system.

Antimicrobial Properties

Salt can create conditions unfavorable to many microorganisms.

Salt can create environmental conditions that are unfavorable to the growth of many microorganisms. Its antimicrobial characteristics are well established in a variety of applications, although the effects of inhaled dry salt aerosol depend on concentration, exposure and other factors.

Interaction With the Respiratory System

Airborne particles can deposit in different areas of the respiratory tract depending on particle size and breathing patterns.

When sufficiently small dry salt particles are suspended in the air, they can be inhaled and deposited at different points throughout the respiratory tract depending on particle size and breathing patterns.

Researchers have investigated halotherapy in connection with respiratory function, bronchial responsiveness, mucus clearance and a variety of respiratory conditions. Results vary between studies, and research into these applications continues.

From Salt to Dry Salt Aerosol

Active halotherapy begins with a halogenerator.

Pure dry salt is placed inside the halogenerator, where it is mechanically ground into very small particles. Airflow then carries those particles out of the halogenerator and disperses them throughout an enclosed room, booth, tent or other designated halotherapy space.

The result is a controlled environment containing airborne dry sodium chloride particles.

This is what distinguishes active halotherapy from environments that simply contain decorative salt walls, salt bricks or salt lamps.

What Happens During a Halotherapy Session?

Once the dry salt aerosol has been dispersed into the space, there is very little the participant needs to do.

Simply relax and breathe normally.

As you breathe, airborne salt particles can enter the respiratory tract. Different particle sizes may deposit in different areas of the respiratory system, while some of the larger airborne particles may also settle onto exposed skin and surrounding surfaces.

The amount of salt aerosol in the environment can be adjusted by changing the halogenerator's operating settings and session duration.

Dry Salt and the Skin

Dry salt also comes into contact with exposed skin during a halotherapy session.

The hygroscopic properties of salt and its interaction with the skin have contributed to research into halotherapy and dermatological applications. Researchers have investigated dry salt environments in connection with several areas of skin health.

As with respiratory research, results depend on the specific protocol and application, and research should not be interpreted as evidence that every halotherapy system will produce the same outcome.

Why the Environment Matters

Because active halotherapy relies on dry airborne salt, environmental conditions are important.

Excessive humidity causes salt to attract moisture, which can affect how easily it is ground and dispersed through the air. A properly maintained, dry, enclosed environment allows the halogenerator to create and circulate the dry salt aerosol more effectively.

Proper airflow is also important for distributing salt throughout the space.

The Science Behind Halotherapy

Halotherapy has been investigated in clinical trials, pilot studies, scientific reviews and laboratory research around the world.

Research has examined areas including respiratory function, bronchial responsiveness, mucociliary clearance, chronic respiratory conditions, pediatric respiratory health, skin applications and exercise performance.

Scientific findings vary, and the existing research includes both encouraging and inconclusive results.

How the HaloTherapyPRO Halogenerator Works

The HaloTherapyPRO Halogenerator is the heart of any true halotherapy experience — designed to transform pure salt into a powerful, breathable microclimate that supports respiratory wellness and relaxation.

A Simple, Powerful Process

1

Pure Salt is Loaded

The HaloTherapyPRO uses only high-quality, pharmaceutical-grade sodium chloride. This ensures a clean, safe, and effective halotherapy experience.

2

Precision Grinding Technology

Inside the unit, a specialized grinding mechanism crushes the salt into microscopic particles — typically between 1–5 microns. This ultra-fine size is key, allowing the particles to travel deep into the respiratory system where they are most effective.

3

Advanced Airflow Distribution

A built-in fan disperses the dry salt particles evenly into the room, creating a consistent and controlled environment.

4

Controlled Salt Therapy Environment

The HaloTherapyPRO continuously maintains optimal salt concentration in the air, ensuring every session delivers consistent, professional-grade results. Adjustable settings allow you to customize intensity and session duration.

5

Breathe. Relax. Restore.

As you relax in the space, you inhale the microscopic salt particles. These particles interact with the respiratory system, helping to cleanse airways and support overall wellness.

🔊 Sound level measured at only 58 dB with both the grinder and fan running simultaneously.

Why It Matters

The Engine Behind True Halotherapy

Not all salt rooms are created equal. Without a halogenerator, a salt room is simply decorative. The HaloTherapyPRO is what makes halotherapy real — actively producing and delivering the microscopic salt particles that drive the benefits.

Think of the HaloTherapyPRO as the engine of your salt room — precision-engineered to deliver the exact particle size, concentration, and airflow needed for an authentic halotherapy experience.

Designed for Performance & Simplicity

Easy Setup

Simple external placement — no installation required. Place, fill, and start.

Consistent Salt Output

Reliable, repeatable salt dispersion every session — no guesswork.

Dry Salt Aerosol

No humidity, no mist, no moisture. Pure dry salt technology for safe indoor use.

Professional-Grade Results

The same technology used in clinical salt rooms, designed for your home.

Maintenance

Keeping your device running perfectly is effortless.

After each session — blow out the fan

Simply use the recommended air blow tool to clear any salt residue from the fan after each session. That's it. No water, no disassembly.

Storage

If storing the device for an extended period, keep it in a cool, dry location away from humidity.

Tips for Best Results

Use in a sealed space

Keep doors and windows closed during sessions. The smaller and more enclosed the space, the higher the salt concentration and the more effective the session.

Consistent daily use

Daily 10–20 minute sessions produce the best cumulative results. Think of it like exercise — consistency matters more than duration.

Best time: anytime

Anytime works — but many home users like to run a 10 minute session before sleep to help clear airways and contribute to deeper, uninterrupted rest.

Stay in the room

Remain in the space for the full session duration. Reading, meditating, or simply relaxing during the session is ideal.
